Here are some samples of The Bloom Consort’s performances, live and in the studio.
VIDEO
Fair Phyllis by John Farmer
The recording of this English madrigal is an unedited clip from a May 2023 rehearsal. In the song, Amyntas searches for his lover, the shepherdess Phyllis…and finds her, with amorous outcome (you can follow the lyrics in the video)! The pictures are from our last several years of performance.
Agnus Dei by Thomas Morley
From our album In Full Bloom—Madrigals, Motets, and Lute Songs, this Elizabethan motet is representative of our sacred repertoire.

Deck the Halls, arranged by David Willcox

From our 2018 Christmas concert in Oreland, PA, here’s a live recording of an unusual modern setting of a familiar Christmas carol.
Amours, partes by Claude Sermisy

This French chanson is from our album A Celebration of English Music. In it, the singer threatens to hunt down love if it doesn’t leave him alone.
This Sweet and Merry Month by William Byrd

In this English madrigal, Byrd celebrates the month of May. The recording is from our album In Full Bloom.
Matona Mia Cara by Orlando de Lassus

Lassus’s lively, humorous canzona features a German soldier stationed in Italy who is wooing a lass in his very poor Italian. The recording is from our album A Celebration of English Music.
Sicut Cervus by Giovanni Perluigi da Palestrina

We recorded this deservedly famous setting of Psalm 42 on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. The recording quality is therefore not the best, but the beauty of the piece is evident. (Translation from the Latin: As the deer panteth after the water, so panteth my soul after thee, oh God.)
